The Asian country has approved an improvement package for its already powerful F-15J fighters, of North American origin - Boeing. In total 98 aircraft will be equipped with the new AESA AN / APG-82v1 radar unit, a new Honeywell mission control computer and the BAE Systems AN / ALQ-239 electronic warfare system, as well as respective replacement units.

It is possible that the updates will not stop there and include new weapon control systems and new pods capable of firing various types of weapons and missiles. It also seems quite clear that the initiative is part of a context of accelerated militarization of Asia in what seems increasingly clearly a reissue of the ill-fated 20th century cold war.
