Virgin Atlantic asks for protection in NY

British company Virgin Atlantic filed for Chapter 15 bankruptcy protection in a New York court.
Chapter 15 is different from Chapter 11 in that it allows companies to file for bankruptcy protection in the US court.
Heavily affected by the pandemic, British billionaire Richard Branson's company stopped operating all of its flights in April but resumed part of its activities in July. With Delta as a partner, holding 49 percent of the capital, the company exclusively operates international or intercontinental long-haul flights.
Another company in Branson had already applied for bankruptcy protection in the Australian courts, the namesake Virgin Australia, which voluntarily asked the judicial administration, an option of that country's justice.
There is something sad about this, after all the company that owns the famous brand "Virgin" was about to operate in Brazil. It would be in March. After postponements, the company totally ruled out flying to Brazil.
Hopefully, after the pandemic is over, we can have the company reconsider flying to our country!
