Embraer may return to producing propeller planes

Rodrigo Silva e Souza, vice president of marketing for Embraer, a Brazilian company that is the third largest aircraft manufacturer in the world, gave very interesting information about what may be the new model or family of models of Brazilian commercial aircraft.
And the surprise is that ... Embraer can develop and manufacture propeller aircraft again.
The target market seems quite logical - like "how we didn't think about it before". These are aircraft the size of the ATR-72 or Bombardier Q-400. These aircraft, despite major modernizations, are the result of very old projects, from several decades.
The company's strategy is to present a very modern aircraft to complement its line of regional E2 jets. The new aircraft are expected to have capacities between 70 and 100 passengers and will serve in markets where reaction aircraft are unable to obtain satisfactory economic results.
Initially, the executive said that the aircraft could be ready by 2025, an amazing date given its proximity. This might not be so impressive, as Embraer has shown itself to be very capable of developing complex projects in a relatively short time.
But there is a "detail", the engines. Embraer intends to present a truly innovative aircraft, and for that it will have to have at its disposal much more modern engines than those existing in this market range - possibly around 2000 HP or a little more.
Due to conversations with industries that produce engines, it is estimated that the new aircraft and its new engines should be on the market near the end of the decade.
Good luck Embraer, oh, and don't forget, firm partnership with some Chinese manufacturer to gain access to that juicy market !!
