The Brazilian airline Azul Linhas Aéreas has just formalized the launch of its regional Azul Conecta, a company that will operate with 17 aircraft and 36 destinations in Brazil.
The announcement was made at the on-site ceremony in Jundiaí on August 11 and was attended by numerous company executives, the press and even the national secretary of civil aviation, Ronei Saggioro Glanzmann.
Glanzmann praised the initiative and stressed the importance of actions that lead regional aviation to reach regions that would not normally be served by current markets.
The launching of the new company is a relatively complex story and was made possible by the acquisition of TwoFlex, a company that already operated with a fleet of seventeen Cessna Caravan aircraft with the most conspicuous destination of its flights at Congonhas airport in downtown São Paulo. .
The transaction was completed in January 2020 and now culminates with the new brand and corporate identity.
The CEO of the new company, who is also Azul's Technical Operational Vice President, highlighted the qualities of the Cessna Caravan model. According to him, the plane is versatile and makes it possible to serve different markets.
The Caravan is known in the industry for its exceptional robustness, simplicity, safety and low cost of operation and maintenance. Nicknames or affectionate adjectives such as "tractor", tank of war or workhorse are often used by the technical personnel to refer to him.
It is a light single engine with a capacity of about 19 passengers and equipped with a single PT6A engine, produced by Pratt
With Conecta, the Blue conglomerate currently reaches more than 150 destinations and the goal is to reach more than 200 in the medium term. It is speculated that the new company will be crucial for the resumption and recovery of Azul's operations in the post-pandemic period, which everyone expects is close.
The initial investment for the purchase of TwoFlex by azul was in the order of 120 million reais. If the post-pandemic recovery is confirmed and with the scarcity of initiatives in this aviation segment, it is likely that the return on investment will soon prove to be very positive.
This seems to be, without a doubt, Azul's expectation for the new little sister.
