The Russian Ministry of Defense released images of the second production version of the Sukhoi Su-57 stealth fighter. The aircraft was presented to the country's authorities on its assembly line in Komsomolsk-on-Amur.
Currently, the UAC industrial unit, of which it is part of Sukhoi, in Komsomolsk-on-Amur is undergoing a wide modernization of its production capacities to allow the establishment of an advanced assembly line dedicated to Su-57 fifth generation fighters .
This aircraft, according to data recently released in specialized publications, has more advanced capabilities than previously thought, which even classify it as close to a 1bold sixth generation2bold. Among the most notable features are:

Considered one of the main combat aircraft factories in Russia, the unit had to adapt to new production and assembly standards required by the fighter, which requires additional care in handling components.
“In Komsomolsk-on-Amur, production capacities have been updated and retrofitted, which allows us to meet the schedule of the Ministry of Defense's acquisition plan, where we plan to deliver the 76 Su-57 [ordered] aircraft by 2028,” commented Ilya Tarasenko, CEO of Sukhoi, in conversation with Sergei Shoigu, Minister of Defense, during a visit to the industrial facilities.
Russia has revised the original order for the Su-57, reducing it to just 76 firm orders. Although possible additional lots may be requested, the Russian strategy provides for a diversified fleet with fourth and fifth generation aircraft.

The Su-57 was the Russian response to the United States' F-22 and F-35 fighters, which unbalanced the global air defense and attack capabilities. However, Russia ended up becoming the third country to have a fifth-generation stealth fighter in operation, as China declared its J-20 operational shortly before the Russians completed Su-57 certifications.
Incidentally, a Su-57 suffered an accident, with total loss, when it fell December 2019 in a forest area in the far east of Khabarovsk. It was the first loss of the new Russian fighter jet, which prompted authorities to establish a task force to investigate the causes of the crash.
