ABAG, the Brazilian association of General Aviation, is joining a large group of international associations and other countries in a fight against business aviation and irregular air taxis.

The entities named this coalition the name "Air Charter Safety Alliance" and intends to act with potential customers, aviation authorities, charter brokers and transport ministries, creating awareness and positive actions in order to minimize the incidence of transporters or irregular procedures in this aviation field.

Class organizations recognize that the majority of companies operating in the field are reputable, but unfortunately there are many initiatives that exploit loopholes or deficiencies or inspection difficulties to offer deceptive services that harm potential customers or even create safety hazards for charter flights or executives.

But it is not just the customers who fall into these irregular companies are harmed. The companies that operate within accepted standards and the market in general are harmed because, after all, unsuitable companies represent a clear form of predatory and unfair competition.

The initiative does not start from scratch. Several of the associations involved are already carrying out activities to inhibit illegal area activity and this experience will be expanded by the new entrants. To achieve this objective, the creation of an online platform, educational initiatives and the generalization of the industry's best practices through all the entities and countries represented are planned.

The focus will be on creating or expanding a safety culture in addition to government regulations already adopted by state governments. The customers themselves, in their own interest, will be able to participate in the initiative, learning to become better able to discern between suitable operators or those who eventually try to involve them in false promises of low costs or unsafe operations that appear to be comparative advantages but which really are not. .

Among the quotes from several general aviation executives, we highlight that of ABAG president Flávio Pires. According to Pires, ABAG fully supports "any initiative to combat illegal chartering". He indicated that the repression of illegal chartering is a growing trend in the world and that authorities and civil society must unite in this fight.

The coalition that goes to the field with this important objective is composed of the following international associations:

  • Brazilian General Aviation Association, ABAG

  • Air Charter Association, ACA

  • African Business Aviation Association, AfBAA

  • Asian Business Aviation Association, AsBAA

  • Business Aircraft Operators Association, BAOA

  • British Business
