The company Qatar Airways, wants to receive in court a value of 5 billion dollars due to restrictions on its operations imposed by the countries Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Egypt and Bahrain.

The reason alluded to by the company is the economic impact on its operations due to the blocking of flights ordered by the air authorities of these countries. The restrictions have been imposed on Qatar since 2017 due to the country's alleged participation in the financing of alleged "terrorist" groups.

With the closure of airspace in the disputing countries, the Qatar company now has to make huge detours on most of its flights with an obvious impact on fuel consumption and other indirect costs.

The company claims that after three years of friendly efforts it has failed to make any progress in meeting its claims. Because of this failure, Qatar decided to take the case to arbitration bodies around the world.

The UN International Court of Justice has already ruled in favor of the company in its case against the four countries accused of the allegedly abusive blockade. The authorities of the four countries say that the TIJ has no jurisdiction in the case, although the court itself has announced its jurisdiction in the case.

Qatar maintains that the air blockade is in violation of the provisions of the ICAO convention. The country also does not believe any accusation of having participated in supporting international terrorist groups.
