The ANAC airfares report started to be made in 2002 and, since then, 2020 has been the cheapest year to fly in Brazil. In 2019, the average ticket price was R $ 439.89. With a drop of 14% in 2020, the average price recorded was R $ 376.29.

The fall is attributed to the fact that we are going through the covid-19 pandemic, a crisis that is plaguing not only Brazil, but the world as a whole. This is the strongest crisis experienced by the sector, which is the most affected in the entire economy due to measures aimed at controlling the progress of the disease.

This crisis led to a retraction of more than 90% in national flights at the beginning of the year. Due to the economic recovery, the sector has managed to improve slightly. However, the retraction was 47% when compared to the year 2019. The number of passengers transported also suffered a strong retraction, being the smallest amount determined since 2006.

Gol, Azul and Latam are the largest companies in the industry, representing 99.4% of domestic demand. Among these three, Gol was the company that had the lowest ticket price, 16.9% compared to the previous year. Then came Latam, with a reduction of 13.4% and Azul, with a reduction of 13.3% in the average price practiced in the sale of the ticket in relation to the year 2019.
