Lufthansa has announced that it will resume operations in Rio de Janeiro. There will be three weekly flights to Frankfurt. The company will focus on passenger demand, which is gradually being resumed.

At least at first, the flights will take off on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays and the company will use the Airbus A340 jet. The flight will be offered in three different class configurations: Business, Premium economy and Economy class. The opposite route will also be offered (departing from Frankurt to Rio de Janeiro) on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

The Airbus A340 has become rare, both in the companies' fleet and on routes available to Brazil. Lufthansa has not commented on the reason that led them to choose this aircraft for service, but it will possibly be the most suitable for the level of demand expected.

Still according to Lufthansa, the reactivation of the base of Rio is fundamental for the company, since Brazil is one of the largest global markets of the company. It is worth remembering that, even during the pandemic, the company's flights continued to operate uninterruptedly. As much as there has been a drop in demand, Brazil remains a strategic destination for the company.
