Ministry of Infrastructure wants to reduce taxes

In the context of the tax reform that is underway in the National Congress, an interesting possibility may be being created and may occur over time.

It would be the reduction of costs on the expensive jet fuel sold in Brazil. This reduction would be due to the withdrawal of some taxes that today affect the good.

it would be PIS / Cofins, which at the initiative of the Ministry of Infrastructure would no longer focus on fuels.

The idea is not unanimous, however. The Ministry of Economy is against the measure and instead proposes to unify the two rates into one, to be called CBS, Contribution on Services.

The removal of charges is attractive for airlines. Fuels represent around 40% of their costs, or even more. The PIS / Cofins account for about 7 cents per liter of the product, while its current price is around 3 reais per liter, slightly below the price of gasoline.
