On March 18, Gol announced its consolidated results for the last quarter of 2020, as well as for the year 2020 as well. The Boeing 737 MAX aircraft returned to operation after 20 months of shutdown. Gol was the first company to resume flights with this state-of-the-art aircraft, and now it shows the first impacts of this return. The company also highlighted its actions to combat the covid-19 pandemic.
According to the words of the CEO, Paulo Kakinoff: “GOL's business model is the main differential to overcome the challenges that this crisis imposes on airlines. Our fleet operating model with a single type of aircraft, a lower cost structure with predominance of variable components, and a dominant position in the main Brazilian high-density hubs allows us to quickly add or discontinue routes in response to fluctuations in demand, while maintaining discipline as to capacity and profitability ”.

The regulatory bodies FAA and ANAC approved the return of the aircraft after a long process of approximately 20 months very rigorous to certify the highest level of safety of the aircraft.
The efficiency of the aircraft is a factor that can contribute to the strengthening of the company. The 737 MAX is capable of promoting a reduction of 18% in the levels of carbon emitted and 15% in fuel consumption when compared to the 737 NG. Thus, the company can fly longer distances and can better manage its air network.
The results of the fourth quarter (4Q20) point to a recovery of the company. The full report can be seen at the link below.
