In February 2020, GRU Airport, the concessionaire that operates Guarulhos airport, registered more than 3.56 million passengers and 23,993 flights, including national and international landings and departures. After the start of the pandemic, a reduction of 55.2%, 1.56 million passengers, was recorded in the same period.

The pandemic had the greatest impact on international flights, as many flights were canceled and many routes were suspended.
However, national flight numbers in February were less problematic. There were 1.43 million domestic passengers, so the drop was 41.4% when compared to the same period in 2020, when there were approximately 2.44 million passengers.
The main responsible for the movement at the airport were domestic flights, which were responsible for around 89.6% of passengers counted in the period.
Thus, only 10.4% of passengers were flying internationally, about 5,895 passengers transported per day, compared to 38,570 in the same period last year.
Even with the fall, the cargo terminal (Teca) has become the main means of entry for air cargo in Brazil, including the transport of vaccines and other drugs. The total volume of items transported reaches 23 thousand tons.
