The resurgence of the coronavirus pandemic has again impacted the aviation sector. In this April's planning, airlines recorded a 60% drop in the number of flights checked compared to the beginning of March last year, before the restriction measures went into effect. The daily average was 960 daily flights.

The Brazilian Association of Airline Companies (ABEAR) presented these data today, which show that the worsening of the pandemic caused the level of operations to be the lowest recorded in seven months, since September 2020, when the average was 864 domestic flights / day.

The average daily flights has suffered consecutive declines since February, when the number of flights registered was 1469. In March the record decreased again, there were 1177 daily flights.

This average of flights has been registering falls inversely proportional to the upsurge of the pandemic. The average has been dropping for 3 consecutive months. Since May 2020, the sector has been registering a gradual recovery for domestic flights, reaching 1798 flights / day in January, which represents approximately 75% of the flights registered before the restrictive measures. From that month on, things are only getting worse again.
