Qatar Airways has publicly shown its interest in obtaining the cargo version of the Boeing 777X. This aircraft could increase the company's capacity, while reducing pollutant emissions.
The Arab company has an order for 65 units of the Boeing 777-9, an aircraft that is still undergoing certification by Boeing. The first deliveries are scheduled for the year 2023.

Although the New 777X has new technologies and engines that offer greater capacity and lower fuel consumption, this aircraft is not in the construction plans as a freighter. The cargo plane offered by Boeing in the cargo transport configuration is the 777-200LR, which has older technologies that would not meet emission reductions.
Thus, Qatar's plan depends on the acceptance of the idea by other companies that wish to operate such a model, since Boeing would hardly build an airplane to serve only one customer.
Either way, Qatar Airways is very interested in reducing its emissions, as the company's CEO encourages engine manufacturers to invest in cleaner technologies.
