Denmark's first F-35 fighter sparks debate over noise pollution

Lockheed Martin Corporation, a US company that manufactures aeronautical parts, delivers to Denmark the first of a total of 27 F-35 fighters, the result of an agreement signed with the United States in 1997, marking the development of the Danish armed forces.

However, this event generated a debate about noise pollution, since there was an increase in noise levels generated by the aircraft, especially when compared to the F-16. Morten Andersen, a resident of the Netherlands, carried out a measurement of the noise of the F-16 fighters, and found that these aircraft produce a 95dB sound, compared to the 91dB of the F-35.

According to the calculations, the noise generated by the F-35, since they are much heavier aircraft, will be practically twice as much as that of the F-16, exceeding the noise level allowed in 618 houses around the air base.
