The French government announced that the country should suspend all flights between Brazil and the European country. The measure was announced on Tuesday (April 13) and has no end date.
The French want to avoid the possible proliferation of the Brazilian variant of the coronavirus, which is still small in the country. The Minister of Health, Oliver Veran, said that the Brazilian and South African variant represent 6% of the cases, initially detected in Manaus and associated with greater transmissibility, the P1 variant may seem insignificant, but it can grow very quickly.

Despite this relatively low number of infections by the Brazilian variant, health experts have been warning that P1 has been spreading over the days. The decision to ban comes after pressure from this class and opposition politicians.
Before the total ban, travel was already restricted. People arriving from Brazil were required to have a negative covid test, just as they were required to be quarantined for 10 days.
