Santos Dumont airport will be auctioned in the next round of concessions to the private sector, a measure discussed last Thursday, April 15, in the audience of the Chamber of Deputies Tourism Commission. This determination is intended to increase the airport's operational security.

Concern about competition between Santos Dumont and Galeão airports was also discussed and the possibility of transferring international flights from Galeão to Santos Dumont is being analyzed.
The idea is that, after being auctioned, the airport undergoes a complementation of operational security measures, in addition to the measures that are already in place. According to the director of ANAC, Tiago Sousa Pereira, “Infraero has made investments, such as the removal of the prepared strip, improvement of signaling, resurfacing of the runway, various interventions to improve the operational safety of the flow of 10 million passengers that Santos Dumont receives per year ”.
