The Russian Air Force has developed new aircraft designs, such as the Su-57 and the PAK DA, a future strategic bomber that will succeed the current Tupolev TU-22M and TU-160 .. Among the new projects, is the MiG-41, model you want to replace the MiG-31.
The project is still little known, however, during an event in 2016, Sergey Korotkov, executive director of Russian Aircraft Corporation MiG, noted that the MiG-31 fighter will retire in 2028 and said there was enough time to create a replacement aircraft.

According to Ilya Tarasenko, general director of the company, "the aircraft will use new types of weapons, will be created with new stealth technologies, will be able to transport a large volume of armaments and will operate a very large interception radius".
Despite the scarcity of sources, the Russian news site Avia.Pro reported that the MiG-41 should have its first test model completed in 2023 and the inaugural flight will be in 2025, which would correspond to the MiG-31's retirement forecast in 2028.
It is expected that the aircraft belongs to the sixth generation and that it has a wide range, given that Russian territory is the most extensive in the world, with 17 million km². In addition, rumors also point to the possibility that the fighter has hypersonic speed, which would considerably increase the costs of the project. Another aspect that receives attention is the question of the potential of radars, which would be able to detect objects over long distances without revealing their location. The planes are also expected to feature hypersonic missiles, as well as MiG-31s "u200b"u200btoday, and laser cannons.
The project still does not have official opinions and many rumors permeate the debate about the launch of the new Russian fighter.
