The application created by the International Air Transport Association aims to manage passenger travel easily and securely while meeting government requirements for covid 19 testing and vaccine information.

According to Alexandre Juniac, general director and CEO of Iata, “The test is the immediate solution to reopen borders and safely reestablish the connection between people. Ultimately, this will likely transition to vaccination requirements. In both cases, it is essential to have a secure system to manage information about the Covid-19 test or vaccine. The Iata Travel Pass is a solution that travelers and governments can rely on. And it is being built considering data security, convenience and verification of information as top priorities ”.

The data stored by Iata are encrypted, including results of tests and vaccination, ensuring a high level of data security and privacy. The passenger decides what information he wants to share.

Identity verification is done based on global standards developed by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), with biometric data from the passenger's passport combined with a selfie taken by the user. The app also includes the international vaccination certificate. The main vaccine required for entry into some countries is yellow fever. While the covid 19 vaccine is not yet widely available to the public, the app's priority is testing.

The Iata Travel Pass also uses standards that will allow travel processes without the need for contact. Even if, in the future, we no longer need contact restrictions due to covid 19, the Iata Travel Pass will continue to be a big step in the implementation of contactless travel.
