Last week, UAC, United Aircraft Corporation, reported that it changed its mind about manufacturing a new version of the IL-96-400 aircraft. The project had been in the works for a few years and the assembly, which started in 2019, was interrupted in 2020 due to the crisis in the aviation sector and now will not be resumed.

Only two units of the aircraft will be manufactured and delivered between 2021 and 2022 to the Russian government, and operated by Rossiya Airlines, for the purpose of transporting government officials.
The new aircraft will feature four Aviadvigatel PS-90A1 engines, the most modern in the family and with the greatest buoyancy, and can produce up to 38,300 lbs of buoyancy. In addition, inside, the air vents will be located at the top of the seat, out of step with the Russian standard.
