For some years now, the company has been carrying out actions to reduce its environmental impact, such as research, awareness campaigns and guidance of its professionals.
The goal of the International Civil Aviation Organization is that by 2050, carbon emissions will be reduced to 50% compared to 2005. In addition, two other objectives are to increase efficiency in the use of fuels and to neutralize the growth of gas emissions pollutants.
According to the company's vice president of operations, Celso Ferrer, “Gol's strategy to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2050 is focused on driving operational and technical improvements that reduce GHG (greenhouse gas) emissions, improving fuel efficiency and replacing petroleum-based fuels with alternatives with lower carbon content. We hope to have market-based mechanisms, including short, medium and long-term carbon offsets, in addition to simplifying infrastructure and the technological advances needed to enable the transition to low-carbon aviation. ”
