A Boeing 787 from the Israeli company El Al was conducting a joint operation departing from John F Kennedy International Airport, (NY), to Tel Aviv, Israel, with a duration of 10 hours, on 11/30.
The 4X-EDH registration plane was already flying over Spain. At that point, the pilots contacted Air Traffic Control (ATC) and said they suspected there was a bomb on the aircraft.

Spanish fighters were sent to escort the plane that flew over the territory. In Italy, the same was done until Greece. In Greek airspace, four more F-16 fighters escorted the aircraft to Israel, where an Israeli fighter escorted the plane to its destination.
The landing took place safely four hours after the ATC alert. Inspection of the plane found no threats from bombs or hijackers.
Interestingly, the flight took place normally without any deviation to the nearest airport, as expected in this type of situation. It is not yet known why pilots suspected of a bomb in flight.
