The president of the National Civil Aviation Authority of Portugal (an organ equivalent to the Brazilian Anac) said, on Monday 3 May, that the crisis of the covid 19 in the European Union caused the reduction of about 7 million direct and indirect jobs.
"In Europe, the social impact of reducing air transport was particularly difficult, leading to the loss of around seven million direct and indirect jobs," said the official, during the 'Aviation Day'.

In view of the great damage caused, the president of ANAC, reinforces the need to “continue to prepare coordinated and consistent responses”, taking into account the epidemiological situation of each locality, always observing the recommendations of the health authorities, in such a way that citizens' confidence is regained.
According to what Luís Miguel Ribeiro estimates, the recovery of the air transport sector will be longer than initially anticipated, since the impacts of the crisis may also have been greater than those initially expected and it will be necessary to provide “security” to the clients, based on a set of standards and protocols cited by health authorities.
The time required for recovery and the real magnitude of the crisis that affects the sector will only really be realized after the recovery begins to happen.
