The Lufthansa Group recently announced that it added ten more aircraft to an order for 60 it had placed in March 2019. Of the 60 aircraft, 40 are Airbus A350-900s and 20 Boeing 787-9s.
The new order has five more Airbus A350-900s and five more Boeing 787-9s. The first order aircraft will be delivered later this year. The order now totals 25 Boeing 787-9s and 45 Airbus A350-900s. With this, the company intends to modernize its fleet in the coming years.

The five new Boeing planes ordered will be delivered by the first half of 2022, and are planes that had been ordered by other companies, have already been manufactured, but will now be purchased by Lufthansa. The Airbus order will be delivered between 2027 and 2028. The new Airbus will replace the A340 models.
The company's CEO, Carsten Spohr, said that “even in these challenging times, we continue to invest in a Lufthansa Group fleet that is more modern, more efficient and with less emissions. At the same time, we are moving ahead with the modernization of our long-haul fleet even faster than planned before the coronavirus pandemic, due to countercyclical opportunities. "
Spohr added that "the new aircraft are the most modern of their kind. We want to further expand our global leadership role, among other things, with cutting-edge premium products and a state-of-the-art fleet - especially since we have a responsibility to the environment. ”.
The company had already announced, in 2017, its new product: the Lufthansa business class, planned to be launched in 2022. It is rumored that the 787 or A350 may debut Lufthansa business class seats.
It is expected that in the coming months Boeing 787 aircraft will already fly by Lufthansa.
