Latam is preparing for the resumption of its operations, even at levels below what they were before the pandemic. The company is operating 49% of what it operated in the same month in 2019, but this level is higher than that of April, which was 38%.
The company expects to significantly increase its operation. The airline closed April with around 190 daily flights, but the projection for May is 250 daily flights. In June there will already be 400, and by the end of 2021, there will be 800. The company will hire 750 pilots and flight attendants, and seven more Airbus A320 units are arriving to meet demand.

The improvement trend caused the company to announce the end of the codeshare with Azul, so the flights shared between the two companies will no longer happen as of August 22 this year. In a note, the company says that the two companies are now better able to sell their own flights.
The agreement, which had been announced on June 16, 2020, was a response to the worsening market generated by the pandemic, but Latam says that both the expansion and the volume of passengers that benefit from this agreement have fallen short of expectations.
The end of the agreement is aligned between the two companies and will not have any impact on passengers. However, this resumption does not have a third wave, which is quite possible (and likely) to occur. Jerome Cadier, CEO of Latam, believes that it will not happen, as he believes that immunization will prevent it.
