Emirates Airlines, Boeing's largest customer of the 777X model, gave Boeing a harsh warning because of delays in certifying the new 777-9. The company has already reduced part of the original orders and has threatened to cancel all orders. The company has already announced the purchase of the Boeing rival Airbus A350-1000.
Emirates' order is 126 active orders for the 777-9 and 30 for the 787 Dreamliner. The order is valued at more than $ 50 billion. Emirates owns 145 wide-body aircraft from the manufacturer, being the largest 777-300ER operator in the world.
Emirates CEO Tim Clark said he could drop orders if Boeing fails to meet the performance commitments set out in the contract. Emirates is concerned about the lack of information about Boeing's development program. The CEO said he had yet to receive any details on the aircraft's engine performance. One of the concerns is with the history of exaggerated promises involving the launches of the 737 MAX and the 787 Dreamliner.

"We will not accept a plane unless it is performing 100% of the contract," added Clark.
In response to Emirates, Boeing says it continues to run a rigorous test program to demonstrate the safety, reliability and performance of the 777X. We remain committed to delivering an airplane that meets the regulatory requirements and high expectations of our customers.
Emirates was supposed to receive its first 777-9 in June of last year, but it is now expected to be delivered only in late 2023.
The 777X project had incidents and delays in its development, made even worse by the recent problems posed by the pandemic
