According to the analyst, the new design of the next generation of the Chinese bomber Xian H-20 may have a stealth wing that will help it attack the territory of the Japanese islands to the bases of the United States in the Pacific.
The South China Morning Post released computer images of the aircraft. The photos reveal that the jet's strengths will be its stealth ability and its ability to fly long distances. In addition, it is possible to predict from the images that the aircraft may have a weapon compartment, a frontal radar, two stealthy air intakes - one on each side - two mobile vertical stabilizers, in addition to the aircraft's external covering, which will be dark gray that absorbs radar waves.
The aircraft has been designed for years and is expected to be ready for operations by 2030. No official photo has yet been published.
Previously, information has been released that the bomber will also have conventional and nuclear missiles and will be able to carry up to 45 tons of cargo. According to this information, its maximum take-off weight would be at least 200 tons. The plane will also be able to launch four hypersonic stealth missiles, in addition to flying at subsonic speeds.
Jon Grevatt, a specialist in warplanes, said that, according to the images, stealth and the ability to fly long distances will be a priority concern, while speed will be in the background. "This means that the strategic type of advantage of this aircraft is that it will be able to attack like a strategic bomber, so the [H-20] will be able to hit targets from a long distance, perhaps the second chain of islands and beyond. It means that [ the H-20] would threaten US assets and interests in Asia-Pacific. If the aircraft becomes operational, it has the potential to change the rules of the game, ”he says.
The second chain of islands is the territory between the Japanese islands (where bases of the United States are located), Guam, Philippines and the islands of Micronesia.
