A new defense action by the United States took the flight of the first private fighter, an F-16 - the most agile of its generation -, in the state of Arizona.
The fighter belongs to Top Aces, a company that specializes in defense and offers training services for the Armed Forces. The company closed an agreement with the United States Air Force for training and, as part of the agreement, received in January four units of the F-16, which previously belonged to the Israeli Air Force and underwent a restoration process upon reaching the hands from Top Aces. The first of the four Top Aces fighters received FAA certification on Wednesday, and flew for the first time under company ownership.
The flight left Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport and lasted approximately one hour, having carried out several checks until it landed at the same airport. With this flight, the company achieves an important milestone by opening the doors for more companies to follow the same path with fourth generation fighters.
Top Aces' fleet is expected to reach 29 Vipers, which will be used for US Air Force, Navy and Department of Defense training. In training, the aircraft will be operated by former fighter pilots and will simulate enemy attacks in challenging scenarios, also simulated, in order to improve USAF air combat.
Russ Quinn, president of Top Aces, said in a statement that “the entire Top Aces team is very proud to do our part, providing the men and women who operate the USAF and USN frontline fighters with the most advanced level of training possible. ”.
Six other companies also participate in the training agreement. The Department of Defense disbursed approximately US $ 6.4 billion to carry out the operations involved in the contract, which is expected to last for 3 years.
