Throughout the health crisis, we are seeing the fate of Etihad's Airbus A380s, which are being stocked and deactivated. Some operators continue with their A380 models, as is the case with Emirates and Qantas, but this Friday morning, the last A380 took off from Abu Dhabi for its long-term storage.
Etihad announced last month that it would suspend its operations with the Boeing 777-300ER and Airbus A380 indefinitely, as they are less sustainable and more expensive to operate than the Boeing 787 Dreamliner and Airbus A350-1000, which the company will prioritize operations.

The superjumbo flight to its uncertain destination started at 10:10 am, lasting 7 hours. The flight was destined for Teruel, in Spain, where the plane will be stored.
The aircraft registered under registration A6-APF is equipped with a Residence Suite, nine first-class apartments and 70 executive suites. Being the youngest in the fleet, the aircraft only arrived in Abu Dhabi in 2017, so it has just over four and a half years of use.

The retirement of Air France's A380s caused a bit of awe, as the aircraft were just over 9 years old. In the case of Etihad's aircraft, the jets are even newer, with the company's first A380 delivered in 2014.
