On Thursday, the 27th, a Gol flight with origin in Confins and destination in São Paulo faced an unexpected complication: a passenger of the Boeing 737 MAX 8 locked himself in the bathroom during the trip and set documents on fire.
With the voluntary help of another passenger, the flight attendants intervened and immobilized the man. When informing what happened to the traffic control, the pilots requested help on the ground when the plane landed.
The situation was controlled and the landing continued without complications. After disembarking, the passenger was accompanied by a medical team and the Federal Police before being taken to the police station.
Gol stated in a note: “our crew, trained in non-violent containment techniques, managed to detain the man with the voluntary help of a passenger. The airport's Federal Police and Medical Post were called in by the flight commander and acted promptly shortly after landing, which happened uneventfully at Guarulhos Airport in São Paulo. ”
