Designs for new generations of aircraft are promising to be more environmentally friendly and more efficient. However, these designs are often used in commercial aviation. What if projects like this were used in other spheres of activity?
An action plan for the environment in Denmark includes the use of a single-engine electric aircraft, the Pipistrel Velis Electro aircraft, in training for military pilots.

The two-seat aircraft will complement Royal Danish Air Force (RDAF) Saab T-17 trainers. The planes should be available to the Air Force in September this year.
According to Defense Minister Trine Bramsen: “Everyone has a responsibility to contribute to [alleviating] climate change. The electric aircraft will be used for training, among other things. The experience will be important for future acquisitions of equipment in the defense area”.
According to Lt. Col. Casper Borge Nielsen, the aircraft will be tested and evaluated by experienced personnel before being used in the training program for new pilots.
