More efficient planes are becoming increasingly important and in demand. IndiGo's new Airbus A321neo start to show a positive effect on the company's economy. The airline has 40 A321neo and 122 A320neo aircraft.
These planes have more efficient engines, powerful and with a greater capacity. As a result, aircraft are 10% cheaper per passenger. The A321 carries up to 222 passengers and the A320neo 186 passengers.

Another key point for the economy is that, as the planes have greater autonomy, they can make longer trips without the need for stops, further reducing their operating costs.
“The A321 effect is driven by two things: it's more cost-effective and it flies a lot more targeted on the right routes.” Says IndiGo CEO Ronojoy Dutta.
Despite the uncertain economic moment caused by the pandemic, the company does not intend to reduce its orders for the new A321neo.
The company has plans to return all of its old A320ceo to receive the new models in a fleet modernization. The company should receive 40 to 45 new units in 2021.
