Russia intends to develop a new generation of single-engine fighters, competing with the F-35, Rafale, Eurofighter and Gripen E. Thus, the country is looking to renew its fleet of MiG-29 and Sukhoi Su-25.

The new aircraft will be the fifth generation, with a maximum takeoff weight of up to 18 tons and will feature an engine with vector thrust and its maximum speed will be approximately Mach 2. The fighter will have a thrust greater than its weight, so to enjoy greater acceleration. The idea is that the new fighters have good maneuverability, high performance, in addition to the ability to fly under adverse conditions, as well as operation on short runways.

The United States and Europe already have new generation high-performance combat fighters, in addition to exporting their fighters to allied countries. With this in mind, Russia is therefore seeking to develop its fighter fleet, which has only one stealth so far. Thus, by creating a new stealth fighter, the country will also be able to attract the interest of its allies.
