In view of the expansion proposed by Azul, Gol Linhas Aéreas now has the expansion plan, which announced this Tuesday, June 8, the purchase of Map for 25 million reais in cash and 100,000 GOLL4 a R shares $28.00 to be paid in 24 monthly installments. Gol will also assume 100 million reais in financial commitments from Map. The deal still needs approvals and confirmations from the National Civil Aviation Agency (Anac) and the Administrative Council for Economic Defense (Cade).

Map was founded in 2011 and is the fifth largest Brazilian airline. Its fleet consists of seven ATR aircraft with seventy seats each. It operates on regional routes from Manaus Airport and Congonhas Airport.

With the acquisition, Gol intends to expand its operations to new destinations and routes, providing more options and more convenience for its customers.

“We believe that the acquisition of Map is, at this moment, the only viable opportunity for rational consolidation in the Brazilian aviation market. Going forward, we will continue to focus on the organic growth strategy, stimulating demand for the expansion of our network”, according to Gol's CEO.

Gol is the airline that has one of the lowest unit costs in the world. Thus, it will offer greater efficiency with the new operations in Congonhas. The lower costs will allow the company to practice even more competitive rates.

"The Transaction is yet another example that the Company is ready to resume its
sustainable growth and investments in Brazilian air transport, supported by substantially lower operating costs than the competition,” added Richard Lark, Chief Financial Officer.

In the future, the company intends to replace the 737-700 with newer generation aircraft that are even more efficient. Despite not specifying, this statement may still indicate that the company turns its eyes to the 737 MAX 7.
