Saab, a Swedish company specializing in aerospace defense and security systems, seeking new opportunities to export its new fighter, announced that it will export six Gripen E fighters to Brazil and Sweden this year, four to the FAB and two to Sweden.

Jonas Hjelm, head of Saab's aeronautical business says: “we are meeting the schedule that was agreed with our customers (...) It is very important for us to deliver the complete weapons system.”

Hjelm also stated that Brazil is interested in acquiring more Saab fighters. "There has still not been an official communication or any negotiation about when this could happen (...) We need to deliver our first contract (...)", he says.

In 2014, Brazil purchased 36 aircraft at the price of 39.3 billion SEK, which is currently equivalent to R$ 25.8 billion. Of the 36 aircraft, fifteen will be manufactured at Embraer's Gavião Peixoto unit.

The Gripen is a cost-effective aircraft, being relatively cheap and offering ease of piloting, in addition to involving technology transfer.
