The Embraer division responsible for eVTOL, EVE, has made considerable progress in its concepts of urban mobility (UAM). The company entered into an agreement with Skyports, which operates in the vertiport segment, to develop operational procedures.

The companies will work together with Urban Air Traffic Management software to develop the systems needed to operate the vehicle. Atech, also owned by Embraer, will provide the management software.

The idea is to create a certified environment in which the aircraft can be operated. Skysports will contribute to the assessment and market studies of conceptual vehicle operation in Brazil.

“In transition to a low carbon economy, the aerospace industry needs disruptive innovation to create a more sustainable future. With urban air mobility, we have a unique opportunity to co-create vertiports, vehicles and operations, designing a completely new and more efficient mobility ecosystem since its inception,” said André Stein, President and CEO of Eve.

“Our partnership with Eve paves the way for agile innovations in urban air mobility, accelerating new initiatives to meet the growing demand for eVTOL services,” said Duncan Walker, CEO of Skyports.

Embraer's eVTOL has already reached important development milestones, such as the first simulator flight in July 2020 and the first scale model flight in October 2020. With the preparation of the systems to put the vehicle in preparation, another important step was given.
