Janes news agency reported that Japan's Ministry of Defense intends to use digital engineering technologies to develop its next-generation F-X fighter. With this, the F-X program is seeking to improve the quality and efficiency of the project.
The Japanese Defense Ministry spokesman stated that "digital transformation has the potential to make a significant impact at every stage of research and development, mass production and maintenance of defense equipment." Japan will resort to fighter-building methods already used by the United States and the United Kingdom.
According to the spokesman, the Japanese Ministry of Defense and Self-Defense Forces stress the importance of knowledge and mastery of digital engineering and say they are seeking to integrate such skills and “acquire and efficiently operate the equipment”.
In addition, to develop F-X systems (such as fire control, navigation, communication, etc.), Japan's Ministry of Defense is studying Open Systems Architecture (OSA), which allows for interoperability and connectivity between systems.
"The application of the OSA allows us to improve the fighter's scalability so that future subsystem upgrades can be made at low cost and in a short period of time without major remodeling. We intend to apply this technology in the FX", says the carrier. voice.
