Philippines to receive F-16
Country will incorporate more modern version of Viper in its armed forces

The US Department of State, through the Defense Security cooperation Agency (DSCA) has approved the potential sale of several weapons, including 10 F-16C Block 70/72 fighters and 2 F-16D Block70 fighters /72. The purchase includes missiles and a host of other equipment.
The F-16 sale also includes a long list of equipment, including spare engines, active electronic scanning radar (AESA), tactical computers, AMRAAM missiles, and more than two dozen other weapon systems as well. as technical and logistical support, DCSA said in a press release on Thursday, 24.

The contract, worth 2.43 billion dollars, covers the fighters, 15 APG-83 active electronic scanning (AESA) radars, 24 medium-range missiles AIM-120C-7/C-8 AMRAAM guided by active radar, 15 General Electric F110-GE-129D or Pratt engines
The announcement comes amid tensions between the Philippines and China. In March, more than 200 boats, allegedly manned by Chinese militias, entered the Philippines' Exclusive Economic Zone.
In response, the Philippines is maintaining its presence within the contested zones of China's EEZ.
