Singapore Airlines subsidiary low-cost airline Scoot has welcomed its newest Airbus A321neo jet.
The plane made its maiden flight yesterday, the 28th, on the Singapore – Bangkok route. The plane is configured for 236 passengers in a single class – 50 more than the A320ceo and A320neo aircraft that Scoot used in the previous generation. The airline, however, did not say how many passengers were on that flight. Scoot has already received three units of the plane last month.
The company plans to use its new, less polluting aircraft (compared to the previous generation A320) on flights departing Singapore to Cebu (Philippines) and Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam) starting in August.

"The aircraft [Airbus A321neo] gives us this opportunity to expand coverage and bring new things to the Scoot network that we haven't been able to do before," said Wilson Campbell, CEO of Scoot.
Scoot ordered 16 A321neo aircraft in 2019 to support its growth. Of these, 10 will be leased and the remaining six will be owned by Scoot. All planes must be delivered by 2024.
