The Dutch company Pal-V is developing its first “car-airplane” model in collaboration with Italian design studios, and its goal is for sales to start from 2022, and it is already possible to place orders in pre- sale on the company website.
It is a flying car that resembles a sports car, being able to walk on the street, but capable of transforming itself into a flying vehicle in two minutes, the company promises. The model was named Liberty and has been in development since 2012.
The Liberty has already been approved for use on the streets of Europe, and is awaiting aeronautical approval from the EASA (European Aviation Safety Agency).
According to the manufacturer, the vehicle, when in "aircraft form", will be able to take off from anywhere and will be able to fly at 160 km/h for four to five hours and, as a car, its maximum speed will be the same, and its autonomy will be 1,300 kilometers. At first, the vehicle will use gasoline, but the company is studying the creation of an electric version.
According to Pal-V, the vehicle should also be approved soon for traffic in the United States and Australia.
The model, already available in pre-sales, will cost 299 thousand euros (R$1.7 million) in its standard version, and could reach 499 thousand euros (R$2.9 million) in the “Pioneer” version, an edition limited that will have only 390 units.
