The cargo sector was the only one that has recovered – and even expanded – in relation to the pre-pandemic period. In this sense, the largest maritime carrier, which is also the largest integrated container logistics in the world, launched an air cargo service.

The company already offers logistical solutions both by land and by sea, now also by air. The expansion will not only be on Brazilian soil (or air), but also in several other markets, such as Argentina, which should receive the service before the end of the year. The service already exists in other countries.

“Air freight will serve Maersk's customers who already operate in other modalities and for those who only need this solution”, says Maurício Coelho, Air Freight Leader for South America.

The executive hopes that the expansion should make Maersk among the largest air cargo operators in Latin America in the coming years.

The service will also serve the various types of volumes, from small shipments to engines and oversized loads. The service will be in freighter and passenger aircraft, and is focused on speed of delivery, due to the speed of the aircraft, and cost reduction.

"Among the demands that this service solves, there are: hiring a single supplier with expertise and wide range of solutions, ability to serve global markets with its own structure, problems with waiting times and delays, changes in planning and demand, delay or loss in the production process, product launches, transport of valuable goods with reduced volume and reduced inventory in transit, for example”.

Maersk has digital services to move and track goods, schedule services, among others. These services should be available for air freight as well.
