Sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) still represents a small share of use, despite its potential benefits. Boeing and the Dutch company SkyNRG are working on a project to increase the availability of this type of fuel.
With a focus on increasing production capacity and encouraging the use of fuel by airlines, the partnership intends to increase interest in the use of SAF by both companies, the government and environmental agencies.
Boeing is already committed to the use of SAF, with the Boeing ecoDemonstrator project flying the world's first commercial aircraft using 100% SAF. In addition, Boeing will have its planes certified to fly fully fueled with SAF by 2030.

“Sustainable aviation fuels are safe, tested and offer the greatest carbon emission reduction potential in our industry in the short, medium and long term,” says Chris Raymond, Boeing Sustainability Director,
Initially, the partnership focuses on providing SAF to the US west coast. Boeing's investment is intended to purchase fuel for flight tests in advance.
"This partnership is an important milestone in our journey to decarbonize the aerospace industry, while ensuring that its social and economic benefits are available to all."
