The Embraer subsidiary, which is studying the development of eVTOL, and EDP Brasil, a company operating in the electricity development sector, announced on Thursday (15/07) that they had signed a research and study agreement for infrastructure models for the eVTOL from Embraer.
The companies aim to develop energy-sustainable and commercially viable solutions for the infrastructure needed for eVTOL to operate. EDP's role will be primarily for the development of electrical charging points for eVTOL.
In addition, Eve's innovation team and EDP's investment unit in Brazil, called EDP ventures Brazil, will also be responsible for developing more efficient batteries, logistics, energy supply and others.
One of the difficulties of eVTOL is that the autonomy is still very low. Therefore, one of the studies in question is a battery kit that can be replaced in a few minutes and quick charge systems.

“We believe that a low-carbon future necessarily involves the development of electric mobility, be it land or air. That's why we signed this memorandum with Eve, to study possible ways to participate and contribute to this visionary future of eVTOLs, particularly in aspects related to our business, which are energy solutions and charging infrastructure”, commented Andrea Salinas, Director of Innovation and Ventures at EDP in Brazil.
