Russia presented, on the 20th, its new fifth-generation fighter. The aircraft was created by the state-owned Rostec complex and the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC), which brings together the main Russian aircraft manufacturers, including the main one: Sukhoi.
The model called LTS Checkmate has the advantage of being light and able to fly at Mach 2. The aircraft has aerodynamic technologies and materials that promise to increase the efficiency of the device, offering stealth and reduced thermal signature. The plane will be single-engine, and the engine can be derived from the new generation of Su-57 engines.
The presentation of the plane was attended by Vladmir Putin. The plane is focused on the international market and has technological innovations, many of which are focused on artificial intelligence. The price of the aircraft must be between 25 and 30 million dollars, depending on the chosen configuration.

"Our goal is to offer this aircraft to a number of customers starting in 2026," said UAC Director General Iuri Sliusar
He also showed that the first test flight is scheduled for 2023. And that around 300 units of the fighter are expected to be sold over the next 15 years, mainly to countries in Latin America, Asia and the Middle East.
"Russian aviation has great potential for development and our aviation industry continues to develop new competitive aircraft," Putin said during the opening speech at the MAKS salon.

The plane will have a combat radius of 1500 kilometers. It will have STOL capability (short take-off and landing capability). As for armaments, it can have more than seven tons of combat payload. The plane will be able to carry short-range RVV-SD and long-range RVV-MD missiles, successors of the current R-73 and R-77, respectively. There will also be air-to-ground weaponry, with the Kh-59 Ovod cruise missile.
“They are unique in their class. With combat ranges of 1500 km, greater thrust-to-weight ratio, tight take-off and landing, more than seven tons of combat payload, which is an absolute record for aircraft in this class”, said UAC general director, Iuri Sliusar.
The name, however, is provisional. The plane has also been called the Sukhoi Su-75. Some people refer to the device as the Su-59.
