The aviation sector is already showing signs of recovery, especially in places where immunization is more advanced. This result is also shown in Brazil, where the number of domestic flights increased in July, reaching 68% of the network value registered in the pre-pandemic period.
For the Brazilian Association of Airlines (Abear), the resumption is directly linked to the pace of vaccination in the country. Abear was surprised with the high, since the sector had already accumulated improvements since April, with a high of 36%, but this month the increase was more accentuated.
The increase has led companies to seek to rehire employees who were previously laid off. The companies, which once fired 40% of their employees, now end up rehiring to meet demand, albeit in smaller numbers.

“The other contributing factors are also a consequence of the vaccination. For example, people returning to leisure trips because they have school holidays are also driven by the vaccine”, explained the president of Abear, Eduardo Sanovicz.
The executive believes that post-covid will create a new type of consumer: The hybrid corporate traveler, which is one who can travel by working remotely.
The aviation industry as a whole is hopeful about the resumption of flights. “If there are no complications, the numbers will continue to rise. And it will accelerate towards 100% when fairs, congresses and conventions return”, he completes.
