The National Civil Aviation Agency released, on Friday (23/07), the Air Transport Data, which showed a drop in demand for flights (-31.8%) and a drop in the supply of flights (-31.2%), when compared to the same period in 2019.

In contrast, a gradual recovery can be observed, with demand for flights reaching 61% of pre-pandemic levels. As a result, the aircraft occupancy rate closed the month at 80.9%. The total number of passengers transported was 4.2 million, which represents a number 39% lower than that registered in 2019.

In the domestic market, Azul is the leader in market share, with 36.1%. In second place was Latam with 32.4% and, finally, the goal, with 31.1%. The pandemic has affected the aeronautics sector for 16 months, so the comparison is made with the period that preceded the impacts caused by covid.

International travel suffered the most from restrictions imposed by covid. The closing of borders and entry restrictions meant that demand was 85% lower this month than in 2019. The drop in supply was 67%.
