Electric aircraft maker Eviation and DHL express announced that it has ordered 12 cargo aircraft from the Seattle-based company. These are 12 all-electric aircraft that can be controlled by just one pilot and have a maximum range of 815 kilometers. The aircraft can carry up to 1200 kg.
The aircraft, called Alice eCargo, also have a loading time of 30 minutes for each hour of flight, thus ensuring that deliveries made by DHL can be fast. The company placed the first order for Eviation's all-electric cargo aircraft. The new aircraft will operate in all environments that DHL already operates, with both piston and jet aircraft.
“We firmly believe in a future with zero-emission logistics,” said John Pearson, CEO of DHL Express. “For this reason, our investments always follow the objective of improving our carbon footprint. On our path to clean logistical operations, the electrification of each mode of transport plays a crucial role and will significantly contribute to our overall sustainability and zero emissions goal.”

DHL is committed to sustainability, with decarbonisation being one of the main points on the Group's Sustainability roadmap. The total investment for decarbonization actions is in the order of 7 billion euros. Ambitious goals are on the list, such as using more sustainable fuels and constructing environmentally friendly buildings.
In July of this year, DHL partnered with Bulgarian manufacturer Dronamics to transport same-day cargo.
