With plans to expand its operations, Aeroflot's Russian subsidiary Aurora has agreed to purchase 19 units of the Ilyushin Il-114-300. This will make it the first customer of the model, which should start shipping in 2023.

The agreement is a lease by the state rental company GLTK. The Il-114-300 is an updated variation of the Il-114-100, and the aircraft is still in the certification process, however, its maiden flight was made in December 2020.

The appearance in Russia of an aircraft like the Il-114-300 is extremely important. It is a fully national passenger turboprop aircraft that will be able to provide air mobility to the population in regions with difficult access in the North, Far East and Siberia. Therefore, this program is a priority for us,” said Sergei Yarkovoy, first deputy general manager of PJSC UAC and general manager of PJSC Il.

Aurora's fleet consists of 9 Airbus A319-100 units, six DHC 8-400, three DHC 8-200 and three DHC-6-400. The Il-114 is expected to replace the ten units of the Bombardier/De Havilland DHC 8. However, the company is looking for other Russian aircraft in its fleet, in addition to the Il-114-300, the L-410NG, Superjet 100, MC 21-300 and the LMS-901.
