LATAM intends to buy another 28 aircraft of the Airbus A320neo model, which, if approved by the US Court, should be added to the 42 already agreed. The strategy is part of the company's fleet modernization plan.

With the new order, Latam's Airbus fleet remains the largest in Latin America. Thus, the Group intends to increase its presence with a modern and more environmentally correct fleet.

The A320 family of aircraft has more efficient engines, in addition to technological and aerodynamic improvements, so the plane consumes 20% less fuel and, consequently, pollutes less (50% CO2 reduction) and generates 50% less noise. In this way, operating costs are lower and more advantageous for companies.

“The purchase of these highly efficient aircraft is a sign of the commitment we have made to transforming to a carbon neutral LATAM by 2050. At the same time, these 70 aircraft reinforce the region's connectivity scale. We will continue to work responsibly to leave Chapter 11 with a fleet that can keep up with the group's new challenges”, says Roberto Alvo, CEO of LATAM Airlines.
