Pantera Helicopter Suffers Fatal Accident in Amazon

The EB-2021 Panther K-2 Helicopter of the 4th Army Aviation Battalion crashed five minutes after taking off from the Ponta Pelada aerodrome, in Amazonas, around 11:00 am on the 13th, in the city of Careiro da Várzea, near Manaus. All that is known about the causes of the accident is that there was heavy rain in the region at that time.

Six soldiers were on board the aircraft at the time of the accident, which killed one of the soldiers. The other five occupants of the helicopter were taken to the Manaus Area Military Hospital (HMAM). As a press release, The Military Area Command is giving all the necessary support involved in the accident and their families. The aircraft took off from Ponta Pelada, bound for the municipality of Itaituba (PA).

According to the press release, the causes of the accident and the factors that led to it are being investigated by an Army Aviation team specialized in the matter.
